We are honoured to announce Berlei’s exciting Collection with Indigenous contemporary artist, Niah Juella McLeod.
Niah is a descendant of the Monero, Wandandian and Yuin people from south-eastern Australia and her work tells the stories passed down and that are unique to her history. When speaking about what inspires her work, and this Collection, she said, “I am inspired by the land, the stars, the moon, and the earth- the dirt. It keeps me grounded and it’s my belonging. It makes me feel calm and it makes me feel like I have my purpose.”
Niah's two artworks featured in the Collection were inspired by “Bunbal”, meaning trees, a repetitive leaves pattern; and the second artwork is a section of “Duraya” (river) series and the “Gumbiira” meaning reeds.
The Niah McLeod Collection is available across the Barely There, Electrify and Lift & Shape styles.
